Adamson House

Venue Photos

This classic Malibu home was designed by Stiles O. Clemments in 1929, and built in 1930 for Rhoda Rindge Adamson and her husband, Merritt Huntley Adamson. The house and grounds share its location with one of the most beautiful beaches in Southern California. Gorgeous views are afforded the visitor – Malibu Lagoon, Malibu Beach, and the Malibu Pier. The lavish use of exquisite ceramic tile, produced by Malibu Potteries (1926-1932) is a hallmark of the house, and has been characteristic of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture. In 1968, the State purchased the property.

The 5-acre oceanfront site upon which the Annenberg Community Beach House now sits was originally developed during the Gold Coast era of the 1920s by William Randolph Hearst for actress Marion Davies. The Davies estate featured a mansion of 100-plus rooms and an ornate marble swimming pool. As with many Hearst projects, the vision of architect Julia Morgan provided a cohesive grace to the rambling estate. The Beach House was a hot spot on Santa Monica’s Gold Coast, with Hearst and Davies entertaining luminaries from the Hollywood set, such as Charlie Chaplin, Louis B. Mayer, Samuel Goldwyn, Greta Garbo, Clark Gable and other stars of the day.

Natural History Museum

Venue Photos
One of the best things about events at the Natural History Museum is that they take place inside the galleries – guests can sit at the Chimpanzee Table or dine under dinosaurs! The museum is one of the few cultural institutions in L.A. that welcomes weddings and personal celebrations in addition to corporate affairs and non-profit organizations. The Historic Rotunda has recently reopened – a very dramatic space. Many events will begin in the Grand Foyer then move into the African Mammal Hall, North American Mammal Hall, the Fin Whale Passage, or any combination of the three. As the people at the museum like to say, only the fossils are set in stone. When it comes to floor plans, they are happy to work it out so you can be wed with the elephants or dance with mammals!
