What’s In Season this Spring?

Being outside at one of our catering events in the sunny weather, the day after a heavy rain, feels so fresh and rejuvenating. It reminds us spring has sprung here in Los Angeles with plants grinning in bright emerald and flowers dancing in the wind, some already in full bloom. A crudité platter compliments the scene well, and what better way to fill that dish than with vegetables and fruits fit for the season!

We love to create custom catering menus that coincide with the month of your event. When produce is grown locally and eaten in season, it can taste ten times better! With greenhouses, transportation, and grocery stores providing us with produce year-round, we don’t think quite as much about what is growing naturally around us at any given time.

It’s early April! Let’s see what Southern California has to offer.  According to the Seasonal Food Guide here are 10 fruits and vegetables that should be ripening up in the garden now:

5 Fruits in Season:

  • Apricots

  • Cherries

  • Citrus fruits

  • Raspberries

  • Strawberries (yum!)

5 Veggies in Season:

  • Avocados

  • Asparagus

  • Artichokes

  • Cucumbers

  • Zucchini

Remember to use some of these delicious fruits and vegetables in your spring holiday celebrations! Post your favorite dish and tag us on instagram at @tasteandcompany #tastethis.
